EXCLUSIVE: Sony Pictures and Picturestart won an auction and will pay mid-six against high six-figures for Yeti, a Peter Gaffney spec script that will be produced by Jon Silk through his first look deal at Picturestart.
Gaffney last year sold the horror spec Don’t Go Into The Water to Universal. Yeti takes place deep in the mountains, where an avalanche unleashes something primeval from the glacial ice. A father and his daughter battle to survive a merciless predator who blends in with the snow.
Erik Feig and Jessica Switch championed the project for Picturestart and Brittany Morrissey spearheaded deal for Sony. Verve held the auction and reps the writer. It’s the agency’s second material sale to Sony in a week after the 7-figure deal for Cola Wars, the Jason Shuman Ben Queen pitch.
Silk most recently produced The Black Demon and Nightride, latter of which premiered at TIFF and he’s in post on the Felipe Vargas-directed Rosario.
Aside from Verve, the scribe is managed by Adam Rodin and lawyered by Rob Goldman.
