Sony, Michael Bay & Erwin Stoff To Turn Mark Greaney Audio Novel ‘Armored’ Into Action Thriller Film

Anthony D'Alessandro Editorial Director/Box Office EditorMGM has finalized a first look feature film production deal with producer Jennifer Todd and her company Jennifer Todd Pictures.The deal brings Todd back together with MGM Film Group Chairman Michael De Luca, the two having worked together back in the 1990s when she produced the Austin Powers franchise, Boiler Room, and Now and Then for New Line when De Luca was at the helm of the studio.

Heather Graham is enjoying the sun and sand amid the COVID-19 lockdown in California. The Austin Powers actress, 50, shared a smiling photo alongside pal Odessa Rae on Monday, that showed them standing near the ocean. “Today feels like the first day of summer,” she captioned the photo from their “beach day,” adding a sun and wave emojis.

Tim Dams U.K producer Mosley Studios and producer financier Goldfinch are turning to virtual reality for the launch of their latest feature, action thriller “The Ascent.”Thought to be the first ever film premiere inside virtual reality, “The Ascent” will bow June 12 at 7 p.m. (BST) via AltspaceVR, and will be available to those with an Oculus headset, or similar.

Sony is attempting the superhero film equivalent of “doing a lot with a little.” Instead of owning the film rights to a huge connected universe, like WB’s DCEU or Marvel Studios’ MCU, Sony has the “Spider-Man” film rights. And though the character is one of the most popular superheroes in comic book and film history, there’s no obvious way to spin it off into a whole connected universe.

Michael Bay is poised to begin production on the first movie to shoot in Los Angeles since the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown began. Although the film and TV industry is still facing a time of great uncertainty as various production-related ventures are forced to shut down in order meet California’s guidelines on social distancing, the acclaimed filmmaker seems to have found a way around those rules by making a thriller set in the time of a pandemic.

This one might hit a little close to home.

Michael Bay has added his producing power to a new movie, called Songbird, that will somehow be filmed during the coronavirus pandemic.
