Soapy ‘Reasonable Doubt’ Centers One Very Flawed Lawyer: TV Review

A judge threw out murder and other charges Tuesday against a former Philadelphia police officer accused of fatally shooting a Black man in the back as he fled, ruling the instructions given to a grand jury were flawed. Ryan Pownall, 40, had been facing a third-degree murder charge in the 2017 on-duty shooting of 30-year-old David Jones. Court records showed that charge as well as reckless endangering and weapons counts against Pownall were "quashed" Tuesday after a motions hearing before a Common Pleas Judge.

Matt Donnelly Senior Film Writer Lee Schroder has been named an executive in the motion picture marketing department at CAA. Schroder joins the powerhouse agency from Netflix. Reporting to department head Megan Crawford, she will help advise clients on all aspects of a film marketing and distribution strategy for theatrical and streaming releases. The marketing team works closely with CAA Media Finance, led by Roeg Sutherland and Benjamin Kramer, which funds and packages many indies and mid-budget commercial fare. Schroder will also advise the CAA roster on festival and awards campaign strategies, and curating the agency’s effective tastemaker screenings.

But what bubbles beneath the surface of her impressively primped exterior (completed with a variety of hairstyles ranging from sleek to coiled) is a messy underbelly of questionable ethics in and outside of the courtroom as well as a pension for shade-throwing.
