Snoop Dogg and Kelly Clarkson to host Eurovision-style ‘American Song Contest’

Eurovision Song Contest has unveiled its inaugural line-up.Initially announced in 2020, the new contest was due to appear on TV in February but was delayed by NBC.

Chris Willman Music WriterAs “American Song Contest” approaches its March 21 premiere date, the “Eurovision Song Contest”-inspired NBC show has announced 56 artists that will compete in representing the 50 U.S. states, along with a new deal with Atlantic Records to release the upcoming series’ original songs.Some familiar names pop up on the stage-by-state list of competitors — including Jewel (representing Alaska), Macy Gray (Ohio), Michael Bolton (Connecticut), the Crystal Method (Nevada), Sisqo (Maryland) and Allen Stone (Washington) — along with dozens not so well known outside their local territories.Kelly Clarkson and Snoop Dogg were recently announced as co-hosts for the show.

Snoop Dogg has recalled how Queen Elizabeth stopped him from getting thrown out of the UK the 1990s.He spoke about the Queen in a new interview with DJ Whoo Kid, recounting a UK  newspaper cover story in 1994 with Snoop that called on lawmakers to “kick this evil bastard out” in reference to first and second-degree murder charges that Snoop was facing. He was on tour in the UK at the time.In 1993, a man was shot in Los Angeles. Snoop was arrested along with his then bodyguard and charged with first-degree murder.

US Weekly broke the news revealing that the 39 year old wrote in court documents filed on Valentine’s day that she has a “desire” to change it because “my new name more fully reflects who I am.” The hearing is on March 28th regarding the petition.Although Kelly did not directly mention her father, she has been very open about their strained relationship, so she may be ready to continue her legacy without his last name.
