Justin Timberlake says John Lennon inspired new single and he wrote 100 songs for upcoming record

Justin Timberlake has revealed that his new single ‘Selfish’ was inspired by John Lennon. The artist announced his comeback single earlier this week alongside news of his new album ‘Everything I Thought It Was’, which will drop on March 15 via RCA.Timberlake recently spoke to Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1 about his new music, which is his first since 2018’s ‘Man Of The Woods’, and revealed that ‘Selfish’ came about after he sang a cover of Lennon’s ‘Jealous Guy’ on a night out.“A friend of mine, who’s also my music director, who’s probably a friend of the whole family over there, Adam Blackstone, he was doing these small jazz nights at a place in LA,” Timberlake began. “And he invited me to come down and he said, ‘Hey, man.’ He was like, ‘You want to come up and sing something?’ And I randomly threw out, “Oh, yeah, let’s do Donny Hathaway’s cover of ‘Jealous Guy’ by Lennon.’ And by the way, if you’re a Gen-Zer right now, you have no idea who I’m talking about!“So we were talking about the song itself and just breaking down the idea that you just don’t hear that from men often, that they would express an emotion that makes them vulnerable.

Sunny Day Real Estate return with new single and announce 30th anniversary tour

Sunny Day Real Estate have returned with their first new single in 10 years, ‘Novum Vetus’, and announced a run of shows to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their seminal album ‘Diary’.The emo legends, who announced their reunion in 2022, had been teasing the song earlier this week by sharing a minute-long snippet to Instagram. The sound soundtracks a video of an artist drawing the phrase “novum vetus”, (Latin for “everything old is new again”) and then sketching out a boat at sea, over which frontman Jeremy Enigk was heard singing: “The day we died inside, the world was suffering / 10,000 words collide but no one said a thing / the day we died inside the walls come tumbling down.”Although ‘Novum Vetus’ is only just seeing the light of day, it was first conceived when Sunny Day Real Estate were recording 1998’s ‘How It Feels to Be Something On’.

Skepta shares new song/video “Gas Me Up”

After releasing the EP All In in 2021, Skepta shifted his focus away from rap and towards his burgeoning career in house music, both as a DJ and owner of the label Más Tiempo. He still popped up with the occasional indication that he hadn’t left rap behind entirely, though: last spring, a snippet of a new song went viral, and today you can hear the full version, titled “Gas Me Up.” Produced by Cardo, the single is a glossy celebration of success boosted by Skepta’s oaky, blunt delivery.
