As people attempt to juggle the different demands of their hectic lifestyles, it’s no surprise that making time for romance can often fall to the bottom of people’s lists. And, as a result, it turns out that a significant proportion of people are willing to sacrifice their sex lives for a bit of serenity. According to research by Casumo, over half of women in the UK would rather spend some time alone than embark on a night between the sheets.
The study, which was conducted on more than 1,000 people, asked participants: “Would you rather give up sex or other pleasurable experiences?” Get exclusive celebrity stories and fabulous photoshoots straight to your inbox with OK!'s daily newsletter. In response, six in 10 women stated that they would happily forgo sex if it meant that they could have some indulgent me time instead. By comparison, only 30 per cent of male respondents said that they would do the same.
Perhaps surprisingly, the research found that younger people were the ones most willing to swap sex for some quiet time. In fact over two-thirds of 45 to 64 year olds said that they wanted a night of passion over alone time, while less than half of 25 to 34 year olds explained that they’d prefer sex. Elsewhere, the research showed that twice as many women than men would give up sex if it meant never doing a household chore again.
Meanwhile almost half of women said they would give up sex forever so they could still eat chocolate. Sign up to the OK! newsletter Do you love celebrities, fashion, home interiors and beauty?
