Six Celebs Revealed as Meghan Markle's Upcoming Guests for Archetypes Podcast

Meghan Markle has put her popular Spotify podcast Archetypes on hold following the death last week of Queen Elizabeth II.

The Duchess of Sussex has paused the release of her Spotify podcast, Archetypes, for the duration of the mourning period for the late Queen Elizabeth II . A message on the podcast’s Spotify page reads: “New episodes of Archetypes will be paused during the official mourning period for Her Majesty The Queen Elizabeth II.” The period of national mourning will continue until seven days after the Queen’s funeral, which is set to be held on 19 September. Three full episodes of the Duchess of Sussex’s podcast have been released so far, featuring conversations with veteran tennis player Serena Williams, pop star Mariah Carey and actress and producer Mindy Kaling.

Meghan Markle has a partner who will come to her defense! In the third episode of her podcast, the Duchess of Sussex shares with guest Mindy Kaling how her husband, Prince Harry, reacted to the idea of people saying she was lucky to be in a relationship with him.While chatting with star about how women are sometimes convinced that a man choosing them shows their worth, the 41-year-old royal shared how she and her husband pushed back that notion.  “When I started dating my husband, when we became engaged, everyone was like, ‘Oh My god, you’re just so lucky he chose you.’ And a certain point, after you hear it a million times over, you’re like, ‘Well, I chose him too,’” Meghan shares.

Meghan Markle has revealed how her childhood love for comics appears to have foreshadowed aspects of her adult life, while insisting she didn't intentionally name her son after one of her favourite characters.   Meghan, 41, delves into what life was like when she was growing up in her latest Archetypes podcast with Mindy Kaling.  The duo delight listeners with talk of their favourite books as kids, which include the novel Harriet the Spy and Archie.  Originally known as America’s Typical Teenager, Archie Andrews is a klutzy-but-kind nature character who also happens to have red hair and freckles just like the Duke of Sussex.The comic book strip has been transformed for a modern-day audience with Riverdale, a subversive take on Archie and his friends as they explore the mysteries of what lies beneath Riverdale's wholesome facade. During the podcast, Mindy says that the comics "never got too sexy”, before she jovially draws Meghan's attention to the likeness of her husband Prince Harry to the comic’s lothario by gushing: "Well, you like redheads.” Sensing the joke, the Duchess wittily responds: "I do and I like the name Archie”.  Meghan adds: "I was alone so much as a child, and also a latchkey kid and I think I read a lot of Archie comic books.

Meghan Markle released the second episode of her Archetypes podcast on Spotify earlier this week and in it she spoke to Mariah Carey. In the episode, Meghan, 41, had a candid conversation with Mariah where the pair discussed everything from marriage breakdowns to labelling each other as "divas".

As of Friday, “Archetypes” ranked as the No. 1 podcast on Spotify in seven countries: the U.S., Canada, U.K., Ireland, India, Australia, and New Zealand. It shot to the top of the charts soon after premiering Aug. 23 with featured guest Serena Williams, who recently announced plans to retire from pro tennis. The weekly show, hosted and executive produced by Markle, aims to “dissect, explore and subvert the labels that try to hold women back,” as she put it in the trailer for the series. “Archetypes” is available exclusively on Spotify.

Meghan Markle released her podcast, titled Archetypes, on 23 August and despite many people claiming they listened to the first episode multiple times, one person who was not won over was her sister, Samantha Markle. The podcast, which is available on Spotify, saw the Duchess of Sussex, 41, chat with celebrity pal Serena Williams as the pair discussed the double standards women face. However, speaking on GB News, Samantha, 57, described the podcast as a "seductive commercial", labelling her sister's voice as "breathy and seductive".

Meghan Markle is an immediate podcast success.
