We love a luxury fragrance as much as the next perfume-holic, but not everybody has the funds to invest in the designer options on the market. So it’s always nice when thrifty beauty shoppers share affordable scents that smell similar to the more expensive buys out there.
In the past supermarket giant Aldi has released similar scents to classics like Escentric Molecule 01, as well as scents fans compare to big name brands like Carolina Herrera and YSL . But more recently, according to one Facebook user, the store’s Tobacco and Vanilla Eau de Parfum from its Hotel Collection is an affordable alternative to Tom Ford’s Private Blend Tobacco Vanille, £178 here – as they claim it has “the EXACT same notes!”.
“[I saw] someone post this the other day and as the Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille is my go-to fragrance, I wanted to check it out myself,” they wrote in the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group. “The smell is the EXACT same, can’t comment on the longevity yet as I’ve only just put it on but it is an EDP which is good, better than an EDT.” Noting that it may not be the same as the original but is an affordable way of smelling similar, they added: "At 5 quid a bottle I don’t mind even if it only lasts a couple hours.
I bought a bottle for the car, the house and 4 spare.” We can see why shoppers are comparing the two, considering that they do indeed feature the same main notes. And while there’s no arguing with the staying powder of Tom Ford, it’s nice that there’s a similar-smelling bargain option for those who can’t afford the real deal. The post has already racked up hundreds of comments and likes as fellow savvy beauty shoppers spread the word of the “dupe”.
