Sheffield United boss Paul Heckingbottom says he is “not too concerned” about Tommy Doyle’s recovery after the Manchester City youngster sustained a thigh tear with just days to go before the start of the Championship season.
The 20-year-old secured a season-long loan at the Blades earlier this month after a successful spell at Cardiff City last term. The midfielder sustained the injury shortly after arriving at Bramall Lane.
Doyle is set to miss Monday’s visit to Watford and most likely the following match against Millwall. The England under-20 international is still able to run and train, though, with the problem located on his weaker left leg.

Speaking to the Star, Heckingbottom said: “It’s a thigh but it’s on his non-kicking leg so I’m not too concerned by it. There’s a tear, that’s what it is. Nothing more serious than that.
“Tommy is frustrated as you would expect. We’re frustrated for him, because we want him out there and were really pleased to bring him in. But, as I just explained, I’m not too concerned or worried by it.”
He added: “Tommy is back doing running and training. It’s bit by bit, stage by stage.”
