Shameless nurse who faked sick note rumbled after posting Facebook holiday pics

A shameless nurse bagged herself a new job and posted photos of lavish holidays all while claiming sick pay on the NHS.
Sarah Oakes decite including forging a doctor's note and faking a reference from her employer. She was rumbled when she posted snaps of herself and her new husband on their travels on social media.
The 44-year-old, who began working at Whiston Hospital in October 2015, went off sick in February 2019 complaining of chronic hip pain and having reportedly had surgery on her foot, reports Liverpool Echo.
Liverpool Crown Court heard how employers became suspicious when failed to attend a number of welfare appointments and it was discovered she had provided the trust with three fraudulent sick notes. S
She then resigned from her position on August 28 that year but it transpired Oakes had been offered a job at Warrington Hospital after attending an open day in January 2019, although she did not begin work until August 12.
Prosecutor Sarah Holt sais she obtained this staff nurse role after providing two references. but one of them turned out not to be genuine. Oakes was dismissed from Warrington Hospital in November 2021.
Oakes visited Cuba twice during her six months on sick leave, having posted pictures from these romatic trips on her Facebook page. She even got married on one of the trips.
A toatl of £31,000 were paid to Oakes from Warrington Hospital in wages and sick pay from Whiston Hospital.
Patrick Williamson, defending, told the court his client suffers from bipolar disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder. He added: "That work with the second trust must have been of some value, albeit the job was obtained fraudulently.
