A seven-year-old girl has been stabbed to death in a park.
A 30-year-old woman was detained by a member of the public at the scene in Bolton, Greater Manchester Police said.
The woman is not known to the girl's family and police are checking if mental health problems played a part in the incident.
Officers were called to Queen's Park at 2.34pm on Sunday following reports that a child had been stabbed, and despite the efforts of her family and medical responders, she died at the scene.
