Seth Meyers is congratulating actors after SAG-AFTRA made a deal with the studios to bring their 118-day strike to an end.
“I’m happy to report something happened yesterday that will affect the quality of this show in a very nice way and also the quality of life for actors everywhere,” he said during Late Night With Seth Meyers on Thursday. “Congratulations to SAG-AFTRA. Congratulations to every worker who organizes and gets the deal they deserve. Well done.”
Meyers also discussed a bit more about how the end of the strike would impact his show. Late-night shows resumed following the end of the WGA strike. While they’ve booked plenty of talent during that time, guests have largely been unable to discuss any film or television projects.
Well, Meyer joked, don’t expect that to start on Thursday with the Please Don’t Destroy cast Ben Marshall, John Higgins and Martin Herlihy.
“We weren’t gonna be able to talk about the movie because of the strike, and now we can, but I’m still not gonna,” he said. “I wrote my questions yesterday and none of them are about the movie. and I can’t just switch gears like that. We’ll show a clip.”

Of course, that was all in good fun. Meyers assured the audience he would absolutely be touching on Please Don’t Destroy during the show Thursday.
Late-night has certainly been chomping at the bit to get actors back on to promote their work, which was exemplified when NBC has adjusted its guests for Friday night’s The Tonight Show with Marvel stars Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson being added at the last minute.
It’s expected that more big stars will be joining the late night party in the next few weeks.

Actor and comedian Jon Lovitz took aim at the politicization of late-night comedy, calling out liberal hosts Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, and Seth Meyers during an exclusive interview with FOX News Digital.Lovitz, who’s been a comedy icon for nearly 40 years since his days as a “Saturday Night Live” cast member, was asked about the transformation of comedy over the years and drew attention to how polarizing late-night shows have become since the Trump era. “I don’t like it. I don’t like it,” Lovitz said.
Ethan Shanfeld Paul Briganti describes the first week of filming “Please Don’t Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain” as “a miserable nightmare.” The movie, which follows the “Saturday Night Live” comedy trio John Higgins, Ben Marshall and Martin Herlihy as they hunt for hidden treasure, was shot primarily in North Carolina state parks — in the sweltering summer. “There were ticks and snakes, and it was over 100 degrees and very humid. It thunderstormed a lot,” Briganti, who joined “SNL” as a director in 2016, tells Variety.
Even before they turned up on “Saturday Night Live,” taking over the Digital Shorts duty from the Lonely Island trio—which is still the best element of ‘SNL’ these days—the comedy trio Please Don’t Destroy (Ben Marshall, John Higgins, and Martin Herlihy) were seemingly destined for greatness. Their viral videos about the COVID-19 pandemic that blew up on Twitter and TikTok were hysterical, and when they landed that coveted ‘SNL’ gig in short order, it felt like a well-deserved no-brainer.
Michael Nordine author Over the last couple years, Please Don’t Destroy has gone from little-known comedy troupe to “Saturday Night Live” mainstays. Their pre-recorded sketches, most of which involve that week’s celebrity host, are routinely a highlight of the show — bits like “Three Sad Virgins,” “Molly Shannon 2K23” and “Hard Seltzer” are as off-the-wall as they are hilarious.

The feature-length debut effort of the eponymous comedy team Please Don’t Destroy (Ben Marshall, John Higgins, and Martin Herlihy), the trio who are currently the “Saturday Night Live” Digital Shorts creator, the film is a hilarious absurdist treat.

There was plenty of solidarity between the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and SAG-AFTRA during this summer’s dual strikes.
With SAG-AFTRA and the AMPTP having reached a tentative agreement on a new contract, it appears that the long-stalled beginning of Oscar campaign season for the many actors, forbidden from participating in any form of promotion for movies distributed and made by struck studios and streamers, finally can join the party. Until now, the FYC campaigns largely have been fronted by directors, craftspeople and, more recently with the end of the WGA strike, writers. For many voters, however, it is the lure of the stars that fills seats at FYC screening events and gets tune-in to the late-night talk shows and other promotional outlets so often used during the season to bring attention to a contender.
