The 28-year-old American Idol alum announced the exciting news in an interview with People published Tuesday (June 21).

“We got a little man on the way,” Scotty told the outlet, adding that he and Gabi have “always talked about” having children together.
“We always knew we wanted kids, but we always knew we wanted the first few years to travel and have time on the road, to see things and experience life,” he shared. “We’ve gotten to live a lot of life and do some cool things, so seems like now’s a good time to settle down a little and expand the family.”
Gabi, who married Scotty in June 2018, explained that she had learned of her pregnancy earlier this year, sharing the “funny story” of how she told her husband and adding that it “didn’t quite go as planned.”
She said that she had originally wanted to tell him after picking up from the airport, before they were supposed to attend a hockey game together.
“Well, his flight got delayed, so that didn’t work out,” she remembered, explaining that she ended up telling him after the game.
“I’m over there drinking beers, having a good time, and she’s like, ‘I think I’ll just lay low tonight,’ so I was like, ‘Okay,’” Scotty chimed in. “I didn’t think anything of it.”
The couple also confirmed that they’re baby is due in November and that they’re having a boy.
“I was the only boy on both sides of my family, the last McCreery boy out there,” Scotty said. “Gabi‘s from two sisters in her family, so I just figured it would be a girl. But we got a surprise of a boy.”
While he would’ve been “stoked” with a boy or a girl, Scotty shared his excitement about all the moments he’ll share with his son.
