Scott Manners Dies: Talent Agent, Artists & Representatives Partner Was 68

Tom Johnson, who won two Emmy Awards for his comedy writing, died Jan.14 at his home in Los Angeles at 55. No cause of death has been established.

Rod Holcomb, an Emmy-winning ER director who also helmed Battlestar Galactica, The Six Million Dollar Man, China Beach and dozens of other shows and was a longtime Directors Guild negotiating committee menber, has died. He was 80.

Netflix has set an April 4 premiere date and unveiled the first trailer for psychological thriller series Ripley, starring Andrew Scott as Patricia Highsmith’s title character. The series adaptation, from The Night Of’s Steve Zaillian, was orginally set at Showtime but moved to the streamer ahead of Showtime’s integration into Paramount+.

Valerie Wu Intern Andrew Scott is Tom Ripley in the first trailer for Netflix’s coming psychological thriller series “Ripley,” which debuted its first teaser Monday morning. The Patricia Highsmith adaptation was originally set up at Showtime, but was acquired by Netflix in a sale between the companies. Directed and written by Steven Zaillian, who most recently penned Martin Scorsese’s “The Irishman,” the series follows Scott’s Ripley, described as “a grifter scraping by in early 1960s New York.” The plot follows his relationship with a wealthy man traveling in Italy with a troubled relationship with his son.

Benedict Fitzgerald, best known as the screenwriter of The Passion of the Christ, died at home in Marsala, Sicily after a long illness on January 17, 2024. He was 74 and no cause of death was given by his family.

Nancy Green-Keyes, a casting director, agent and film producer whose many credits include The Notebook and Rush Hour, died January 17 at UCLA Hospital in Santa Monica of acute respiratory failure following a brief illness. She was 68.
