A Scots cleaner working five jobs before she had to stop due to a cancer diagnosis has been left speechless by colleagues who have raised thousands of pounds for her.
Anne Marie Kelly, who has been cleaning the Sinclair Building, on Eagle Street, in Glasgow for the last seven years, had to give up her job recently to undergo treatment for oesophageal cancer.
Glasgow Live reports the 52-year-old from Springburn was working as many as five jobs to keep her head afloat before her illness forced her to stop.
Now a GoFundMe has been set up to help with the financial burden.
Anne Marie told Glasgow Live: "I'm choking up just now thinking about it. They had me in tears when they told me what they were doing for me. They are so kind and thoughtful. I wasn't expecting it at all. I can't believe it.
"I was looking at the benefits I could claim and it wasn't enough to live off of. So this support is amazing. I have no words. See with the way the world is, when someone does something like this, it is amazing."
When she was initially given the diagnosis Anne Marie did worry about the financial impact as she had to give up her five jobs.
Now, with her colleagues help, she is fully focused on getting better and returning to the job she adores.
The 52-year-old said: "My treatment is just starting so I won't be able to work. With all the appointments I had to step away, but I didn't want to, I love my work.
"I'm so sad that I had to stop but hopefully I'll be back. My jobs mean everything to me, they're my life. I'm like the resident cat in there, the people are so nice.
"I never wanted to leave the building."
