Scots actor Gianni Capaldi has been left heartbroken after he announced the death of his mother Rita, following a 12 year battle with cancer.
The Blood of Redemption star took to social media to let his 21,000 followers the sad news.
Sharing a picture of his mum Rita alongside his little girl Trinity Grace, he wrote: "This morning, after a 12 year battle with cancer, the most precious light became extinguished.
"Her courageous fight led to the surrender of vital organs and they in turn could not keep up with her brave amiable soul. Now it’s her turn to walk with the angels and the Lord.
"Memories of her infectious motherly love and kindness will live on and be celebrated. RIP my heart. 7/2/23."
And many of his pals rallied round to send their support.
Former Celtic WAG Lisa Hague wrote: "Anything I say is inadequate but we are here for you all if you need us at this incredibly sad time x Lisa, kris, april, William & Jax."
Another friend wrote: "our deepest condolences , she left surrounded by so much love and with the best gift, her grand daughters."

Approved by the government last year and in effect since Jan. 1, the FISA Plus incentive provides funding for international and domestic films and series, including TV and streaming production. The subsidy, which is not capped, also covers documentaries, animation, virtual reality projects and post-production services, including sound, music and VFX. Specifically, FISA Plus offers a 30% rebate plus an additional 5% “green bonus” for productions that follow environmental sustainability criteria, with maximum funding set at €5 million ($5.4 million) per film and $8.2 million per series.
