Scarlett Johansson opened up about her involvement in the Jurassic World universe in a new film directed by Gareth Edwards and penned by David Koepp.
The film is set to be a new take with no involvement from the previous Jurassic World cast or the stars of the original Jurassic Park trilogy.
Koepp, who wrote the original screenplay for 1993’s Jurassic Park and the sequel to 1997’s The Lost World: Jurassic Park, returns to the franchise, which thrilled Johansson.
“The script is so incredible,” Johansson said in an interview with ComicBook. “David Koepp wrote it. He returned after like 30 years to write the script. He’s so passionate about it, which is so awesome.”
Johansson said she’s an “enormous Jurassic Park fan,” adding, “It’s one of the first films I remember seeing in the theater. I remember seeing it so vividly. It was like life-changing. It was mind-blowing. I cannot express how excited I am.”
The Black Widow star said she had been trying to join the universe since it was rebooted in the 2010s as Jurassic World.
“I’m such an enormous fan of the franchise and huge nerd for it. I’m just like, I can’t even, I’m pinching myself,” Johansson said. “I’ve been trying to get into this franchise in any possible way for over 10 years. I’m like, ‘I’ll die in the first five minutes! I can get eaten by whatever! I’ll do the craft service!’ I’ll do anything for it. The fact that it’s happened in this way at this time just is actually unbelievable. I can’t believe it.”
Steven Spielberg, through Amblin, and Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley, through Kennedy-Marshall, will executive produce the new Jurassic World film.
