Salford council children's services rated 'Good' by Ofsted inspectors

Salford council children's services have been rated 'Good' by Ofsted inspectors who praised its work in a number of areas, particularly with care leavers.
The service was described as "strong and effective" with staff noted as "advocates" for young people. Half of the criteria being assessed were judged to be 'Outstanding' by inspectors.
It follows ‘Good’ inspections of all council’s children’s homes in the last two years. The report noted that since the last inspection "Salford City Council children’s services has continued to provide good-quality services to children."

It continued: "A strong senior leadership team ensures that there is a relentless focus on further improvement, with children at the centre of service delivery.
"Early help services provide an effective and timely response to children and families. When children need help or protection, this is quickly recognised and responded to at an appropriate level."
Salford City Council highlighted that it has created a "secure workforce" in the service through a pay and grading review which resulted in improved terms and conditions for social workers.
Working with care leavers, Salford council children's services was found to have "skilled and resourceful social workers" who were able to build "trusting and enduring relationships" with young people, working with them until they no longer want a service or turn 25.
