Rylan Clark was forced to hit back at This Morning viewers on Friday after many suggested that he didn't need to worry about the rising price of energy bills. Rylan, 33, has been hosting the ITV show alongside Ruth Langsford, 62, over recent days while Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby continue to enjoy their summer break. On 26 August it was announced that the energy price cap is set to increase again from 1 October, and Money Saving Expert founder Martin Lewis appeared on Good Morning Britain, This Morning and Lorraine to provide advice.
After chatting to Rylan and Ruth, who both branded the energy price increase "disgusting", the pair received many messages from viewers who criticised them for "not understanding" the severity of the situation. Rylan revealed he'd received many messages saying he "doesn't need to worry" about the crisis due to his wealth, and Ruth said she'd also had similar comments from viewers. "Ruth and Rylan are rich and have loads of money, look at them with their fake concerned faces," one unhappy ITV viewer tweeted.
Following an advert break, Rylan hit back at those criticising him and told This Morning that the energy price increase will impact "every single person we know". "I should just say this as well, and this is a very personal thing I'm going to say. "You get a lot of people saying, 'what do you know? You've got money, you're a TV presenter' and things like that.
