Ryan Reynolds wants to go forward in time

These days, it’s become de rigueur for iconic, heavyweight filmmakers to either weigh in on the Marvel Cinematic Universe and its cultural hegemony or to be asked about it. One of those recent dissenting voices has been Francis Ford Coppola (“The Godfather” trilogy), and while he’s criticized the genre in the past, he seems to like at least one modern superhero film.

Regina King, Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds and Lin-Manuel Miranda will serve as co-chairs of the Met Gala, returning to its traditional berth on the first Monday in May. The May 2 evening is actually the second star-studded gala after the annual fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute was split during the pandemic.  It celebrates "In America: An Anthology of Fashion," the second part of a major two-part exhibition at the museum exploring the roots of American fashion.

In America: An Anthology of Fashion. Every year, the glitzy affair—which provides the Costume Institute with its primary source of annual funding—welcomes a red carpet full of A-list actors, singers, designers, and models. At this year’s event, , , , and will host as the evening’s official co-chairs. Designer Tom Ford, head of Instagram Adam Mosseri, and Vogue’s Anna Wintour will continue their roles as the event’s honorary co-chairs.The 2022 theme and exhibition, , is part two of the Met’s thoughtful homage to our country’s history.

set to take place on May 2. Blake Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, are serving as co-chairs for the event as well as Oscar winner Regina King and actor, composer, and director Lin-Manuel Miranda. Miranda was originally slated to co-chair the 2020 Gala before it was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Designer Tom Ford, Instagram head Adam Mosseri, and Anna Wintour, the Artistic Director of Condé Nast and the Global Editorial Director of will also co-chair the 2022 event after last September's Part One of the exhibit. This spring's theme will be Part Two,, and is returning to its traditional spot in the first Monday in May. Both exhibits will be on display at the Met through Sept.
