Russo Brothers and AGBO Sign Multiyear Podcast Deal With Spotify

Annie Murphy is going from Schitt’s Creek to downtown Manhattan after being cast in the second season of Netflix’s Russian Doll.

Back in 2014, in the lead-up to the release of “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” there was a lot of talk about how the Russo Brothers were mixing the political espionage film with a typical superhero feature. Since then, the Russos and other Marvel filmmakers have talked about the real-world and cultural influences on the features, mixing genres and making kinda-sorta (never really overt) political statements.

Despite the disappointing reviews for “Cherry” don’t tell the Russo Brothers that taking on their independently financed drama was a stretch. They might have directed the second highest-grossing blockbuster of all time, “Avengers Endgame,” and produced numerous television series, but their roots are actually in indie film.

Netflix is turning the tide in digital entertainment and after giving us the intense and action-packed Extraction, the Russo Brothers are teaming up for yet another project. Titled The Gray Man, the production starring Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Ana De Armas, Dhanush, Wagner Moura, Jessica Henwick and Julia Butters is set to kick off in Los Angeles in two weeks time, reports Deadline.

EXCLUSIVE: Billy Bob Thornton, Alfre Woodard and Bridgerton breakout star Regé-Jean Page have rounded out cast of the Russos’ The Gray Man starring Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans and Ana De Armas. Wagner Moura, Jessica Henwick, Dhanush and Julia Butters are also on board.

Outside of a few other composers (looking at you, Hans Zimmer), you could argue that hardly anyone has written music for more massive blockbusters than Henry Jackman.
