EXCLUSIVE: After nearly two seasons heavily struck by the pandemic, RuPaul’s Drag Race concluded its fourteenth season with an in-person finale extravaganza held at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas. Despite the return to the showy Drag Race pomp and circumstance, the Season 14 finale couldn’t quite match up to Season 13’s ratings.

Willow Pill, a fan favorite from the beginning, beat out Lady Camden in a lip sync for the crown to Cher’s cover of ABBA’s “Gimme, Gimme, Gimme.”While the grande finale Ru-vealed itself over 90 minutes, the filming took place a few weeks ago at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas, home to the “RuPaul’s Drag Race Live!” show, and it came in at just under the five-hour mark.This left room for plenty of fun gags that didn’t make the cut, and Variety was in the room where it happens for the uncut, unedited version.

The trailer revealed some of the upcoming season’s celebrity guests, including supermodel Naomi Campbell, “Charlie’s Angels” star Cameron Diaz, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and journalist Ronan Farrow.The new season is set to premiere May 20 on Paramount+, as the cast competes for the title of “Queen of All Queens” and a cash prize of $200,000, the highest in the franchise’s “herstory.” Additional judges and guests for Season 7 include Daphne Guinness, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman, Nikki Glaser, Tove Lo, Betsey Johnson, Janicza Bravo, Ben Platt, Hannah Einbinder and Vanna White.
