Borat 2 star Maria Bakalova and The Hate U Give actor Amandla Stenberg are set to lead A24 thriller Bodies, Bodies, Bodies.According to Deadline, Pete Davidson and Myha’la Herrold are also in talks to star in the film which is being billed as a “secret slasher film”.Bodies, Bodies, Bodies is set to be directed by Dutch actress Halina Reijn in sophomore feature.

Shout! Studios has picked up the North American rights to Natalie Morales' drama Language Lessons, which also stars and is written by Mark Duplass. Actress-turned-director Morales debuted Language Lessons at the Berlin Film Festival and earned the audience award at the SXSW Film Festival.

The film was shot in secret during the pandemic with skeleton crews in Los Angeles and Costa Rica.The film is a production of Duplass Brothers Productions and was produced by Mel Eslyn.

Shout! Studios has acquired North American rights to Language Lessons, the drama that marks the feature directing debut of Natalie Morales. She co-stars with Mark Duplass, who also penned the script. The pic, which had its world premiere at this year’s Berlin Film Festival and won an audience award at SXSW, will now hit theaters and additional platforms later this year as part of the deal that includes digital, VOD, broadcast, and home entertainment rights.

Ava DuVernay’s superhero DC drama Naomi is rounding out its cast. In his return to the CW, former 7th Heaven star Barry Watson is set as a series regular, along with Mouzam Makkar (The Fix), Mary-Charles Jones (Kevin Can Wait), Aidan Gemme (Finding Neverland) and Daniel Puig (The System). Additionally, Amanda Marsalis (Queen Sugar, Ozark) has been tapped to direct and co-executive produce the pilot, from DuVernay’s Array Filmworks and Warner Bros. Television.
