Manchester United fans couldn’t quite believe their eyes after seeing Cristiano Ronaldo miss from the penalty spot.
The Portuguese superstar was presented with a golden chance to give United the lead as they took on Middlesbrough in the fourth round of the FA Cup at Old Trafford.
Twenty minutes into the first half, Paul Pogba was brought down by Anfernee Dijksteel on his return from injury, giving Ronaldo to add to his goal tally.
But the ever-so reliable 36-year-old for once fluffed his lines from spot, scuffing his penalty wide of the post as Middlesbrough were given a huge let-off.

It wouldn’t last for long, with Jadon Sancho going one better after earlier hitting the bar as he gave United the lead on his return to the line-up, with the hosts carrying their lead in to half-time.
But no-one could quite believe what they saw with Ronaldo, with plenty of United fans expressing their shock on social media.
ITV pundits Roy Keane and Ian Wright were just as bemused as they expressed their shock at the penalty miss.
“Obviously, the biggest shock is Ronaldo,” Keane said. “Can we criticise him? Of course we can, he’s got to hit the target.”
Wright added: “You’re not expecting him to miss the whole target. I think he’s tried to be very precise I think, especially with the way the goalie’s started.
“You just want to get that on target. That was a massive shock.”
