She became teary after hearing Aleisha Gam's family story, as the young singer revealed her mum had been battling cancer two years.The normally bubbly singer, who British fans see trading banter with her fellow judges on Britain's The Masked Singer, welled up, and struggled to keep her composure as she opened up to Aleisha and the rest of the studio about her family history. "I know how it feels to sort of have that connection with a song, and then that memory always sticks with that song.

Rita then recalled how it felt to see mum Vera go through gruelling treatment. "When she would go and get her treatment, she was like losing her hair and stuff. And we were kind of teenagers.
"It was really weird to see your mum, like, not be the superhero that you always think your mum is going to be." Taking a deep breath in a bid to hold it together, Rita reached out to Aleisha by sharing her own feelings about what it's like to see the person you rely on being the one who needs looking after. Rita said: "Because you never think your parents are going to sort of, like, break down in front of you, you know what I mean? And then you have to sort of put them together. I can't even speak.
