Social media went dark on June 2. It’s Black Out Tuesday, aka #TheShowMustBePaused, a day created in response to “the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and countless other Black citizens at the hand of the police,” according to the organizer’s Instagram page.

In a week when systemic racism was brutally exposed some of the world’s biggest stars are taking part in a media blackout to show that Black Lives Matter. 

Rihanna has shut down sales for all three of her Fenty brands in acknowledgement of #BlackoutTuesday. The social media campaign is meant to raise awareness of the unjust killing of George Floyd and countless others, as well as showcase the impact of Black spending power.
