Ricky Gervais recalls what it was like to experience heatwaves in Reading as working-class kid

Berkshire and in Reading, temperatures soared to almost 38 degrees. Now a celebrity who has experienced his fair share of Reading heatwaves has commented on how he dealt with the Summer heat growing up. Ricky Gervais said that as a working-class kid with no air conditioning or central heating he was very much "at the mercy of the weather.

One fan asked him how he used to spend his Summers as a child and wondered how he kept cool.
Gervais responded with multiple anecdotes, recalling what it was like to experience the summer heat in the council estate where he grew up. The star was raised in Whitley and grew up in the borough of Reading. He attended Ashmead Comprehensive School as a youth - now known as John Madejski Academy.
During the live stream, Gervais revealed that he used to keep cool in the summer by sitting in the paddling pool. He said he would cool down by "swimming, sitting in paddling pools when I was really little and "sitting under a hose in the garden. "He also remembered not really caring about how hot it was as a child.
He said: "I didn't really care. When you're a kid you run around until you collapse don't you. I still do that.
I still sort of forget to drink water. What an idiot. " Gervais also recalled getting to play on the grass in the Summer.
