Review: ‘Downhill’ a showcase for Louis-Dreyfus and Ferrell

Three distant mountains; three chatty encounters between long-acquainted women; three comically tiresome intrusions from self-important men shot only from behind. Prolific South Korean arthouse staple Hong Sangsoo has dealt in playful, internally rhyming triplicate before, but never with such a gently sardonic female focus, and seldom as straightforwardly as in his airy, charming Berlin competition trinket “The Woman Who Ran.” (Spoiler alert: No women run.)

Downhill is the upcoming dramedy starring Julia Louis Dreyfus and Will Ferrell about a couple on a skiing holiday with their two boys and let’s just say things don’t go smoothly for them.

In a dark, shuttered South Korea devoid of people after a financial apocalypse, a naïve young gang knocks off an underworld gambling den and becomes the target of an implacable killer. Young writer-director Yoon Sung-hyun, whose 2011 coming-of-age drama Bleak Night won multiple Best New Director awards and heralded him as a leader of the next generation of South Korean filmmakers, fulfills that promise nine years later in the nerve-janglingTime to Hunt (Sa-nyang-eui-si-gan).

The self-made billionaire shared some photos of the various bags, which included Louis Vuitton, Chanel, and Hermés pieces, on Instagram on Feb. 16 and they were all organized by color. Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Will Ferrell opened up about their nights at the 2020 Oscars when they stopped by Late Night on Thursday.After the two presented at the ceremony, Louis-Dreyfus said she was "really enjoying the show." “Downhill” feels a lot like it should be a comedy. It looks like one, for starters. It stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus, the most lauded comedic actress on American television, and Will Ferrell, the “Saturday Night Live” goofball whose caricatures of men and masculinity have carved out an inimitable place in American humor.
