Residents on a street in Stockport have asked to 'minimise' car movements after a sinkhole opened up on the road surface. The small hole was discovered on Rae Street, at the junction with Bloom Street in Edgeley.
Council workers called in the water company United Utilities after discovering a depression in the road. The water company says the sewer has not collapsed and it isn't clear what the cause of the sinkhole is.
However whilst carrying out investigations they say they have discovered some damage to pipes which they are going to take the opportunity to fix.

The hole has been fenced off ahead of the work taking place. Rae Street is a dead-end with cars only able to access from one end, where the hole has opened up.
The road has not been closed but ward councillor Matt Wynne asked residents in a statement on the Local Labour group's Facebook page to "minimise vehicular movements" while further investigations into the problem were carried out.
"It's likely the road will be dug up by UU over the weekend and access will be limited. Please adjust activities accordingly" he said.
A spokerson for United Utilities said: “We were called by the council to assist with an investigation into a sinkhole in the road. We have subsequently discovered some damage to one of our pipes which we will be repairing next week.
"We’d like to apologise to residents impacted whilst these works take place.”
