EXCLUSIVE: Reservation Dogs and Letterkenny star Kaniehtiio Horn has revealed the cast for her feature directorial debut Seeds as production gets underway in Ontario.
Horn will star and serves as writer, director and executive producer for the genre-bending home-invasion comedy. The film was previously announced as one of Telefilm Canada six Indigenous projects selected for support through its Indigenous Stream for Theatrical Documentary Program and the Production Program.
Seeds follows Ziggy (Horn), who is offered her first gig as an online influencer, promoting Nature’s Oath, a seed and fertilizer company. When her cousin summons her back to the rez, she is forced into a battle to save her people’s legacy, finding her power along the way.
Graham Greene, Patrick Garrow, Dallas Goldtooth, Meegwun Fairbrother and Dylan Cook also star, with Bonnie Whitlow, Cherish Violet Blood and Peter Keleghan rounding out the ensemble.
The film is produced by Carpe Dee Yum Productions and Jennifer Jonas and Leonard Farlinger of New Real Films, winner of Toronto International Film Festival’s Canadian producer of the year. The film marks the first project for Horn’s production company, Kaniehtiio Horn-Batt Entertainment.
“Stepping behind the camera to write, direct and produce felt like a natural progression after 20 years of experience in front of the camera as an actress,” said Horn. “It’s been really exciting having this chance to flex the creative muscles I have gained along the way. Seeds is a fun genre bending dark comedy. It is particularly gratifying to bring Indigenous stories to life in this way, and I couldn’t have done this without such an incredible team supporting me.”
Horn most recently was seen in the thriller Alice

Chris Stapleton, Kane Brown and Tim McGraw are the reigning artist titans represented in the honorary awards, with Breland and Hardy representing a newer guard. Mary Chapin Carpenter, Clint Black and K.T. Oslin are the longer-standing artists getting their flowers from the ACM. Stapleton qualified for the ACM Triple Crown Award after being named entertainer of the year at the most recent ACM Awards for the first time. The honor goes to anyone who gets that top honor after previously having been named male (or female) vocalist of the year and new male (or female) vocalist of the year at the ACMs. Only eight artists have ever achieved the feat. (Stapleton’s predecessors: Jason Aldean, Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Chesney, Mickey Gilley, Merle Haggard, Miranda Lambert, Barbara Mandrell and Carrie Underwood.)
