The 93rd Academy Awards were held recently and in a surprising moment, the awards ended with the announcement of the Best Actor honour instead of the Best Picture win like always. The biggest acting honour of the night was taken home by Anthony Hopkins for his performance in The Father.

ABC is offering an explanation for the 2021 Academy Awards ceremony’s anticlimactic ending.

TMZ, Derrick Boseman said his brother would have been the first to wish Hopkins the best following his Sunday night win. The late actor would have seen winning an Oscar as an achievement but never an “obsession” said Boseman, adding that he felt all the shortlisted actors were worthy of the award.

Being remembered. Chadwick Boseman‘s cause of death was a wake-up call for many young adults about the risk of colon cancer. Boseman—who has starred in movies like Black Panther, 21 Bridges and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom (for which he was nominated for a posthumous Oscar)—died on August 28, 2020 after a four-year-long battle with colon cancer. He was 43.

In December, Marvel Studios announced they wouldn't recast the role of Chadwick Boseman's King T'Challa for the upcoming sequel out of respect for Boseman's memory.

The 21st Annual Black Reel Awards took place today with Warner Bros’ rousing drama, Judas and the Black Messiah, taking the marquee Outstanding Film award. In addition, stars Daniel Kaluuya and Dominique Fishback were bestowed with the Outstanding Supporting Actor and  Outstanding Supporting Actress award, respectively. Producers Charles King, Ryan Coogler, and Shaka King become the first all-African American team to win Outstanding Picture.
