Cineworld Group, the world’s second largest theater circuit, said today it’s completed its executive team following the 2023 appointment of CEO Eduardo Acuna after the company emerged from bankruptcy.
Thomas Song of Dine Brands and Aimbridge Hospitality joined as CFO last December. Since then, Cineworld has tapped former Warner Bros. Discovery executive Ben Hill as head of HR and John Henrich as general counsel. Javier Sotomayor joins from Cinepolis as president of Cineworld International. John Curry is promoted to SVP, Commercial.

Hill worked across most divisions of the company that is now Warner Bros. Discovery, including Warner Bros. Motion Pictures, Warner Bros. Henrich was most recently SVP, General Counsel and Secretary at Sally Beauty Holdings.
Sotomayor has 25+ years of global experience in start-ups, marketing, business development, supply chain, and strategic planning in the industries of retail, entertainment, and financial services.
Curry was most recently Regal’s SVP of Food Services.

Naman Ramachandran Toonz Media Group and Be That Spark Corp, a joint venture between BLKBX Originals and Zuroam Media, have signed a co-production and co-distribution agreement for upcoming 3D animated series “Little Sparks.” “Little Sparks” is based on the children’s book series “A Little Spark” by Chris Parsons, recipient of the Mom’s Choice Award Gold Medal for family-friendly media. The books will be adapted into a CGI animated series aimed at the four to eight age group.

When Icelandic directors Smari Gunn and Logi Sigursveinsson set out to make The Home Game, they couldn’t have imagined the response this small, local Icelandic documentary would gather on the festival circuit. The film, which follows a group of spirited underdogs as they fight for local soccer glory, is coming off the back of a rapturous reception at the Glasgow Film Festival, where it won the fest’s prestigious Audience Award. It previously screened at the Tromso International Film Festival, DOC NYC and Nordisk Panorama.
