INGLEWOOD, Calif. -- Technically, Eddie Vedder's new album and tour are a solo project.But the longtime Pearl Jam frontman was anything but alone on the almost-accidental venture.

Sam Esmail’s adaptation of Fritz Lang’s classic 1927 film Metropolis is finally coming to the small screen.

Joe Otterson TV ReporterSam Esmail’s “Metropolis” series has been greenlit at Apple, Variety has learned.The drama series is inspired by the 1927 Fritz Lang sci-fi film of the same name. Hailed as one of the greatest and most influential films of the silent film era, the story takes place in the futuristic city of Metropolis.While the city’s wealthy elite enjoy a lavish life of comfort and ease in penthouses and pleasure gardens, scores of workers labor at dangerous machinery in the bowels of the city to keep everything running. Freder Fredersen, the son of the most powerful man in Metropolis, has an awakening after meeting a young worker named Maria and witnessing a number of workers die in an industrial accident.

William Jackson Harper (Love Life) and Cristin Milioti (Made for Love) have been tapped to star in Peacock’s The Resort a true-crime love story from Palm Springs writer Andy Siara, Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail and UCP. The Righteous Gemstones‘ Skyler Gisondo also is set as a lead and Ben Sinclair (High Maintenance) and Parvesh Cheena (Mythic Quest) will recur in the ensemble series.

Queen Elizabeth, 95, had her first virtual meeting, after rumors of her passing took the Internet by storm, on Tuesday March 1. The English monarch was taking part in some virtual meetings with foreign ambassadors from Andorra and Chad, as revealed in a tweet. The queen video called in to greet the officials at Buckingham Palace, but she looked like she was in good spirits on her computer monitor.

In addition to postponing several virtual events due to illness, the queen also postponed a diplomatic reception planned to take place at Windsor Castle on Wednesday due to the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia. Though Elizabeth has avoided public appearances, ET previously learned that she was carrying on with «light duties» amid her COVID battle, which included keeping up with her red boxes, which contain government advisories and parliamentary papers at her desk. Last week, a source confirmed to ET that the queen did have her weekly call with UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson.

Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder opened up to the crowd about his experience contracting COVID-19.“I got the COVID right before we were supposed to start practicing, probably five, six weeks ago, and literally saw my life flash in front of my eyes,” Vedder said while addressing the audience at Los Angeles’ YouTube Theater on February 25, after his daughter Olivia performed her Flag Day track ‘My Father’s Daughter’.“I’ve done some very good things for my body and I’ve also had a lot of fun and I’ve done some things that would be termed some kind of abuse,” he joked. “I won’t get into the details.

Steven Spielberg is developing a film based on one of Steve McQueen’s most iconic film roles, Frank Bullitt, according to an individual with knowledge of the project.Josh Singer will write the screenplay. The film will not be a remake but a new story with the Bullitt character at the center.

Sources tell Deadline that he is attached to direct a new original story centered on Frank Bullitt, the iconic character played by Steve McQueen in the 1968 thriller Bullitt. Spielberg will also produce the pic along with Kristie Macosko Krieger, with Josh Singer on board to pen the script. The film is set up at Warner Bros.

Eddie Vedder resumed his ‘Earthling’ US tour this week, and his first show back saw him perform a cover of Pretenders‘ ‘Precious’ alongside Duff McKagan.A couple of the Pearl Jam frontman’s tour dates in California were postponed due to a COVID-19 outbreak, but on Monday (February 21) he got back on the road with his first show back taking place at Benaroya Hall in Seattle.The setlist for the show was littered with covers, including Tom Petty’s ‘Room At The Top’, Sex Pistols’ ‘God Save The Queen’, The Who‘s ‘I’m One’, George Harrison’s ‘Isn’t It A Pity’, and Bob Dylan’s ‘All Along The Watchtower’.There was also a cover of Pretenders’ 1980 record ‘Precious’, which Vedder performed with help from Guns N’ Roses bassist McKagan.
