performed the national anthem at the 2024 Super Bowl, which sees the Kansas City Chiefs facing off against the San Francisco 49ers (and all eyes on Taylor Swift, cheering on her boyfriend, Travis Kelce). She gave it a country twang, and wore black pants bedazzled in rhinestones, with a sparkly white blazer.
Last year, Chris Stapleton sang the patriotic song, making this the second year in a row that a prominent country artist has been tapped to perform the tune. “CODA” actor Daniel Durant performed it in ASL while McEntire sang.
McEntire was one of the three big pre-game songs this year. During an interview on CBS Mornings, McEntire revealed that when her manager called to say she’d been asked to perform the national anthem, her first response was, “Oh my gosh, well let me think about that.” But she said that her boyfriend, actor Rex Linn, 67, (“Better Call Saul”), who is a football fan, said, “Yes!
