Clayton Davis Senior Awards Editor Austin Butler, Ke Huy Quan, Keke Palmer, NT Rama Rao Jr and music superstar Taylor Swift are among the 398 artists and executives invited to join the membership of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. If all of this year’s invitees accept membership, it will bring the total number of overall Academy members to 10,817 (up from 10,665 last year), with 9,375 eligible to vote (a decrease from 9,665 due to deaths, retirements and moving to emeritus status) for the 96th Oscars, set to take place on March 10, 2024. The 2023 class is 40% women. 34% belong to underrepresented ethnic/racial communities and 52% hail from 51 countries and territories outside the United States. There are many recent Oscar nominees among the invitees, such as Austin Butler (“Elvis”), Paul Mescal (“Aftersun”), Stephanie Hsu (“Everything Everywhere All at Once”) and Kerry Condon (“The Banshees of Inisherin”). The list also includes many of the 95th ceremony’s winners, such as Ke Huy Quan (supporting actor for “Everything Everywhere All at Once”) cinematographer James Friend (“All Quiet on the Western Front”) and composer and songwriter M.M. Keeravani and Chandrabose (“Naatu Naatu” from “RRR”). Even the dynamic “RRR” lead acting duo of Ram Charan and N. T. Rama Rao Jr. have also been extended invitations, along with the film’s production designer Sabu Cyril and cinematographer K.K. Senthil Kumar.

Elton John will be joined by four special guests at his headline slot at Glastonbury.Taking place tomorrow night (June 25), the legendary singer-songwriter is set to perform his last ever UK show at the festival. The set follows his mammoth ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour’, which saw him play over 350 shows over five years.While it comes as no surprise that there will be a few special moments lined up for the upcoming show, over recent months the main speculation has been around who will join the ‘Rocketman’ singer for the final set.

Elsa Keslassy International Correspondent Olivia Colman, Antonio Banderas, Rachel Zegler and Emily Mortimer are in talks to join the cast of “Paddington in Peru,” the third opus of the beloved bear’s adventures. Set to start filming on July, the third installment film will also star Hugh Bonneville, Julie Walters, Jim Broadbent, Madeleine Harris and Samuel Joslin. Ben Whishaw and Imelda Staunton will also be back as the voices of Paddington and Aunt Lucy, respectively. Filming locations will include the UK, Peru and Colombia. The movie will mark the feature film directorial debut of Dougal Wilson, and reteams Studiocanal with Heyday Films following their collaboration on the first two films of the Paddington franchise. Studiocanal is fully financing and will distribute in the UK, France, Germany, Benelux, Poland, Australia and New Zealand as well as through partners in China and Japan. Sony Pictures will distribute in the USA, Canada and other key international territories including Latin America.

Robert De Niro has admitted his children have not yet met their new sister who was born two months ago. The 79-year-old welcomed his seventh child, Gia Virginia Chen-De Niro, with girlfriend Tiffany Chen, 45, on April 6. Robert, who was first linked to Tiffany during the summer of 2021, is already a father to Drena, 51, Raphael, 46, twins Julian and Aaron, 27, Elliot, 24, and Helen, 11.

The Smile have “a big backlog of ideas” for new music, according to their guitarist Jonny Greenwood.The band – Greenwood, his Radiohead bandmate Thom Yorke, and former Sons Of Kemet drummer Tom Skinner – released their debut album ‘A Light For Attracting Attention’ in 2022. Earlier this year they confirmed that work had begun on a follow-up.Now, Greenwood has told Consequence that the band are “still firing off each other” and “wanna keep moving forward” with new music.“The frustration of having not had access to playing in a band for a couple of years [has] just built up a big backlog of ideas,” he said.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street band have announced further support acts joining them at their BST Hyde Park Shows.Announced today (June 16), the newly-announced acts will join The Boss for his upcoming shows in London on Thursday July 6 and Saturday July 8. The CW’s Superman & Lois has set the returning cast for the recently picked up 10-episode fourth season, with four of the 12 Season 3 series regulars coming back amid budget cuts. Departing as series regulars are Dylan Walsh, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Erik Valdez, Inde Navarrette, Wolé Parks, Tayler Buck and Sofia Hasmik, Deadline has learned. Five of them had been on the show from the start, Walsh, Chriqui, Valdez, Parks and Navarrette.

Slipknot are two members down on their European tour, which started this week. Percussionist Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan announced earlier this week that he would be sitting out the tour in order to care for his sick wife. Prince Harry is due in court on Tuesday to give evidence as part of his case against Mirror Group Newspapers, after a no-show on Monday, and while he's here in the UK, there could be a chance for a special family meeting. The Duke of Sussex's cousin Princess Eugenie welcomed her newborn son Ernest into the world on 30 May, and so it seems Harry's trip is perfectly timed for him to meet the new arrival to the family.
