Selome Hailu Rashida Jones and Will McCormack’s production company Le Train Train has entered a first look deal with the Lionsgate Television Group, where Jones and McCormack will produce scripted projects across platforms. The first project in development under the deal is “Lovesick,” based on the UK series of the same name.“Lovesick” was a romantic comedy series that ran for one season on Channel 4 before moving to Netflix for Seasons 2 and 3.

The 2018 story of a boys’ soccer team trapped in a cave in northern Thailand made headlines around the world. Now, the harrowing true story gets the Hollywood treatment with director Ron Howard at the helm and an ensemble cast, featuring Colin Farrell, Viggo Mortensen, and Joel Edgerton.

Joe Otterson TV ReporterApple has struck a multi-year first-look deal with Animal Pictures, the production company run by Maya Rudolph, Natasha Lyonne and Danielle Renfrew Behrens.The announcement of the deal comes after the premiere of “Loot,” the Apple comedy series in which Rudolph stars and executive produces. Under the terms of the deal, Apple will now have a first-look at all series and digital features developed and produced by Animal Pictures.In addition to “Loot,” Animal Pictures has Lyonne’s second season of “Russian Doll” at Netflix and Rian Johnson’s mystery “Poker Face” and a two-season order of adult animated series “The Hospital” created by Cirocco Dunlap.

Donaldson will develop a slate, funded by All3 and its international arm, and partner with New Pictures co-founder and CEO Willow Grylls to produce scripted TV.

Taylor-Johnson, who just wrapped the shoot of “Kraven the Hunter,” introduced 15 minutes of footage of the action-packed comedy thriller “Bullet Train,” which was also shown at CinemaCon.“I watched (the movie) last week and I was literally howling with laughter to the point that I almost peed on my seat a little.

Selome Hailu Lionsgate Television Group has signed a scripted television development deal with “Home Economics” creators and executive producers Michael Colton and John Aboud.Produced by Lionsgate, “Home Economics” debuted on ABC in April 2021. The series is based on Colton’s family and follows three adult siblings (Topher Grace, Caitlin McGee and Jimmy Tatro) who live at different levels of financial security.

Netflix just dropped the first look at Blonde, and what an uncanny look it is. In this new teaser trailer for the Andrew Dominik-directed film starring Ana de Armas as Marilyn Monroe, the  Hollywood icon is initially depicted as a tearful bundle of nerves, praying that some mysterious “she” won’t abandon her. As her make-up is applied and Monroe transforms into a smiling, radiant star, we realize exactly who she’s has been waiting for.

Emma Thompson, 63, has completely transformed for her new role as the iconic nasty teacher Miss Trunchbull in Matilda the Musical.The new Netflix project features the Love Actually actress in one of her least recognisable roles to date, but the nasty teacher has also had some changes since she last appeared on screen in the original Roald Dahl movie back in 1996. At the time, Miss Trunchbull was played by Pam Ferris, and wore a navy uniform throughout her scenes as principal, later putting on her Olympics jumper and trousers for the shot-put throwing.The new Trunchbull is more of a traditional-style schoolteacher, wearing a khaki and brown military-style coat over the top of a shirt and tie.

Ryan Gosling is set to star as Ken in the "Barbie" live-action film due next summer, and the studio has dropped the first look at the actor in character.  A first look at Gosling’s character surfaced on Wednesday and the 41-year-old actor debuts Ken’s iconic platinum blonde hair in an all-denim outfit. "The Notebook" star shows off his abs as he posed in white underwear that says "KEN" along the waistband.

Netflix released a first-look teaser for its upcoming holiday season special Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical, with Alisha Weir as the title character, a little girl with an extraordinarily vivid imagination. The film adaptation, written by Dennis Kelly, adapted from the Tony and Olivier award-winning Royal Shakespeare Company’s production of the stage’s Matilda The Musical, also stars Emma Thompson as Miss Trunchbull), and Lashana Lynch, Stephen Graham, Andrea Riseborough and Sindhu Vee.

Warner Bros. Television Group adds to its growing roster of talent by signing a new first-look deal with writer/producer Bill Prady and Chris Sanagustin’s Pine Tree Entertainment. Under the terms of the deal, Pine Tree Entertainment will develop new scripted programming — including dramas, multi- and single-camera comedies, genre series, and more — for all platforms, including HBO Max, external streaming services, cable, and broadcast networks.
