Sergei Shoigu, 66, is allegedly "out of the game" following the health emergency and "could be left disabled" if he survives, according to businessman Leonid Nevzlin.
The 52-year-old, who is an enemy of Vladimir Putin, added that the government official is currently "in intensive care, connected to the devices", the Mirror reports.
He also claims that 20 defence ministry generals have been detained as part of a £7.6billion "corruption" case, with 150 Federal Security Service (FSB) officers having already been arrested in connection.
The exiled former co-owner of oil giant Yukos claims that the news was passed on to him from his anonymous sources in Moscow, however it has yet to be independently confirmed.

Shoigu was seen on April 13 on a video conference with Putin and other ministers about the development of the Arctic.
