Princess Diana’s former bodyguard claims she was ‘battered into submission’ post marriage to Prince Charles

Season 4 of The Crown focuses on Princess Diana's introduction to the royal family and her tumultuous marriage to Prince Charles. Unsurprisingly, Diana and Charles's alleged extramarital affairs also get some attention, even if those relationships aren't fully fleshed out on-screen.

Prince Charles and Camilla’s official Twitter account recently turned off comments on a post about a charity after being flooded with vitriol. On Tuesday, the Clarence House Twitter account, which posts updates and photos about the Prince of Wales, 71, and the Duchess of Cornwall, 72, shared pictures of Camilla speaking to the staff and residents of a UK homeless charity.

Prince Harry joined his brother Prince William in expressing his support for an investigation into the BBC and journalist Martin Bashir for the 1995 Panorama interview in which Princess Diana said “there were three of us in this marriage, so it was a bit crowded.” The line referenced Prince Charles’s affair with his longtime love Camilla Parker-Bowles, his mistress before they married in 2005.

The Crown chose to leave it out. "The wedding scene, you can YouTube it and you could be watching it in 10 seconds, so I don't think there'd be any point in us recreating it," Emma Corrin, who throughout the fourth season of the series, told .  (You can watch a full recording .)Instead, the wedding episode, titled “Fairytale,” cuts directly to credits after showing  .

Princess Diana broke all kinds of royal precedent and protocol when she sat down for an explosive, tell-all interview with journalist Martin Bashir on BBC Panorama. In the now-infamous interview, Diana candidly discussed the breakdown of her marriage to Prince Charles, including his affair with his now-wife Camilla Parker Bowles and her own affair with James Hewitt.
