Princess Diana looks stunning in a beautiful and incredibly sophisticated new black-and-white image set to go on display at Kensington Palace. The portrait features the late Royal, who sadly died at the age of 36 following a car crash in Paris, during her younger years. Diana was photographed looking side-on with her blonde hair styled into a cropped bob, which is how she used to wear it in her mid-late 20s. Dressed in a a satin one-shoulder dress, the People's Princess accessorised her regal outfit with a pair of bejewelled drop earrings.
The royal opted for subtle makeup for the portrait, wearing mascara and pale lipstick, and the image was alike to a stamp portrait as she stood face-on with a serious expression for the camera. Diana's iconic image was taken by the acclaimed photographer David Bailey, and was part of a sitting commissioned by the National Portrait Gallery in 1988. It is now set to be unveiled as part of a new exhibition at Kensington Palace from March 4.The event will also feature poignant images of other members of the royal family.
While there were several pictures taken during the sitting, the unearthed portrait had been kept in David's personal collection over the decades. Royal fans will likely queue up to see a new image of the Princess for the first time in public ever. Diana had chosen the royal photographer herself at the time, following in Princess Margaret's husband Lord Snowdon's footsteps.
Also a photographer, Lord Snowdon was the first member of the royal family to pose for David in 1965. It comes as Diana's eldest son Prince William has reportedly been making some decisions on his son Prince George's academic future recently.
