If there’s a lesson to be learned from David Gordon Green’s trilogy of “Halloween” legacy-quels, it’s to quit while you’re ahead. His 2018 “Halloween” (a direct sequel to the original 1978 masterpiece and a ret-con of its many, many follow-ups) was a surprisingly effective combination of slasher reanimation and reconsideration, taking the horrors of that Halloween night, and its psychological effects on its survivors and the town where they happened, with uncommon seriousness (yet with flashes of self-awareness and humor).

EXCLUSIVE: Disney Branded Television is reuniting with longtime former VP Original Series Kory Lunsford with a new comedy series and a first-look deal. Disney has picked up to series Pretty Freekin Scary, a multi-camera sitcom based on the popular books, from CakeStart Entertainment, where Lunsford serves as president and partner, and Cloudco Entertainment. Lunsford left Disney after nearly 20 years in May 2021 to join the newly formed CakeStart.

Paris Hilton said this week that she was sexually abused as a teenager at a boarding school in Utah by staff members performing cervical exams. She alleged "very late at night" staff members would take her and other girls at the Provo Canyon School in Utah into a room.  "They would have us lay on a table and put their fingers inside of us," she told the New York Times in an emotional video interview.

A group of pro-life students is suing their Las Vegas high school and the surrounding school district, alleging discrimination against their campus club. One of the plaintiffs, recent ECTA graduate Felipe Avila, who founded the Students for Life chapter at East Career and Technical Academy (ECTA) in 2019, told local news he sensed "animosity" from administrators who "did not like" his group's message.

Columbia University Irving Medical Center and its affiliate, NewYork-Presbyterian, reached a settlement of over $165 million to be distributed to women who accused former gynecologist Robert Hadden of sexual abuse or misconduct. The agreement was announced on Friday by the two hospitals, which said in a statement that the money would be distributed to 147 of Hadden's former patients. In 2021, both hospitals agreed to make a $71 million compensation fund for 79 people who were patients of Hadden.

Jem Aswad Senior Music Editor Columbia Records has entered into a joint venture with former Capitol Records chairman-CEO Jeff Vaughn to launch Signal Records, the company announced Wednesday. The Los Angeles-based imprint will operate as a new label with Columbia Records of Sony Music Entertainment and begin operations immediately, with an artist roster to be announced in the coming weeks. As founder and CEO, Vaughn will lead the company’s creative direction and business development while utilizing Columbia’s marketing, promotion, and label services.
