It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost five years since hit teen drama Pretty Little Liars came to an end, and it’s safe to say that the main characters look a little different from their Rosewood High School days.Take Shay Mitchell, who played main character Emily Fields on the show, who recently switched up her signature long dark tresses in favour of a choppy chin length bob and feathered fringe on TikTok.The video, which has already racked up an incredible 4.8 million views, shows Shay yanking her long hair before the clip cuts to the wet look style, complete with a glamorous smokey eye makeup look. She simply captioned the clip, “Long or short?” asking for her fans’ opinion.Thankfully for Shay, the majority of her fans thought the new ‘do looked great on her.
“The short hair is so pretty”, one enthused in the comments section of the video, as another added, “You look gorgeous either way girl, but short is fire especially with the bangs”. Meanwhile a third said, “Okay you look hot with short hair” as a fourth chimed in with, “I’m here for those bangs!!” Others, however, did prefer the look that the star made her signature as PLL’s Emily.
“Long reminds me of Emily, I miss her,” one said, while another lamented, “I like it a lot but I’m still too emotionally attached to Emily Fields for this amount of change”. It’s no surprise that her fanbase were largely going wild for the new look, though, as the star has barely strayed from long brunette hair over the past decade.
