SPD can also be known as pregnancy-related pelvic girdle pain (PGP), and according to the NHS is "a collection of uncomfortable symptoms caused by a stiffness of your pelvic joints or the joints moving unevenly at either the back or front of your pelvis." This condition affects up to one in five pregnant women and can be treated with physiotherapy, but is unlikely to completely go away until after the baby is born.
