50 Cent took to Instagram to announce he wants to executive produce Pop Smoke’s first posthumous project. The announcement comes as the hip-hop world is still reeling from the loss of the 20-year-old Brooklyn drill rapper, who was tragically murdered in Los Angeles last month.

As Pop Smoke's death continues to rattle the hip-hop community, one rapper is looking to push forward his legacy. On Sunday night (March 1), 50 Cent announced his desire to not only finish Smoke's album, but executive produce it, as well.

Pop Smoke, who died earlier this week, was murdered, Los Angeles officials have confirmed. The "Welcome to the Party" and "Dior" rapper, whose real name was Bashar Jackson, was shot dead during a home invasion in the Hollywood Hills on Wednesday and was pronounced dead at a hospital, Los Angeles police had said, adding that an investigation was underway.

The home-invasion death of rising rapper Pop Smoke in Los Angeles does not appear to be part of a robbery, police said Thursday (Feb. 20), as detectives sought to identify the shooter and the music community mourned. 

Pop Smoke landed in Los Angeles on Monday evening for a five-day work trip that would include studio time and meetings with other artists. The 20-year-old New York rapper then began sharing posts on social media that were followed by thousands of people.
