Forensic officers are now examining it for evidence. Detectives are continuing to urge anyone who witnessed the incident - which happened at around 11.25pm - to come forward.
Superintendent Helen Critchley, from GMP’s City of Manchester district, said: “I would like to thank the members of the public for providing the information that has allowed us to recover a BMW, which is now undergoing forensic examination. However, we are still appealing for information about the collision and subsequent firearm discharge - we particularly want to hear from anyone who may have dashcam footage of the incident.
“This was a reckless incident but fortunately no-one was injured. Any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage is asking to get in touch by calling 0161 856 1146 or report it online at www.gmp.police.uk. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
