To the delight of hygiene-conscious travellers, this foot-operated pedal, intended for bin-use, eliminates the need to use hands when disposing items into the bin.
Plane toilets aren't known for being particularly pleasant, with the rubbish bin, typically located near the sink and intended for paper towels post-hand wash, requiring most people to manually depress its lid when disposing waste. However, this recent revelation reveals this doesn't have to be the case.
On TikTok, an plane passenger enlightened viewers with this toilet hack "for the people who don't know". The video, captioned "Hack. Surely I'm not the only person who just learnt about this," was shot inside an aircraft toilet, showing user @3rfa9 demonstrating the useful pedal operation positioned close to the floor.
In the video, they wrote: "The bin is always for for me, and I hate touching the bin. Did you know about it? " It seems they were not alone in their lack of knowledge about this feature.
