The 2023 BET Awards are underway celebrating the best performances in music, TV, film and sports. Live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, the event is also celebrating 50 years of Hip Hop with Busta Rhymes set to be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Naman Ramachandran Actor and producer Jonathan Lipnicki has joined production, post-production and distribution company Buffalo 8 as an executive producer. Lipnicki made a mark with his performance alongside Tom Cruise in “Jerry Maguire,” before becoming the lead in the family franchise “Stuart Little.” He will soon be seen in the upcoming TBS show “The Joe Schmo Show,” Peter Pardini’s film “Man Goes on Rant” and Britt Robertson-led film “The Re-Education of Molly Singer.” Lipnicki will play a key role in packaging and project development within Buffalo 8’s EP services division, identifying storytelling opportunities and bringing together top-tier talent based on his extensive relationships spanning Hollywood studio films through to the independent sector.

The Ringer and Religion of Sports have unveiled Destination NBA: A G League Odyssey as the title for their NBA G League documentary greenlighted at Amazon, announcing that the film will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide on August 8th. The companies also this afternoon debuted a first-look clip featuring projected NBA Draft lottery pick and NBA G League Ignite star, Scoot Henderson, which you can view above.

Quincy Jones has been released from the hospital after suffering a medical emergency.Jones' rep tells  that the 90-year-old music producer had a bad reaction to some food he ate, and out of an abundance of caution called 911 for help.Paramedics arrived at Jones' Los Angeles home Saturday afternoon and transported him to the emergency room to get checked out. Per the outlet, Jones was cleared by doctors soon after, and was released from the hospital. His rep noted to  that Jones never lost consciousness and was in «great spirits» despite the scary incident.ET has reached out to Jones' rep for comment.Jones turned 90 in March.

The Lifetime channel has extended its partnership with child safety activist Elizabeth Smart with the green light to produce a new film entitled “Abducted By My Teacher: The Elizabeth Thomas Story.”This new film comes after Lifetime’s success with “The Girl Who Escaped: The Kara Robinson Story,” a thriller movie based on the true crime story of Kara Robinson, who was abducted by serial killer Richard Evonitz. “Abducted by My Teacher” will tell the story of Elizabeth Thomas, who was groomed and kidnapped at the age of 15 by her high school teacher. The movie is set to star Michael Fishman (“Roseanne”) and Summer Howell (“Harland Manor”), and it will premiere on Saturday, Aug.

McKinley Franklin editor Michael Shannon has previously revealed that he was “a little confused” when he received the offer to join “The Flash” in a reprisal of his role of of General Zod from “Man of Steel.” Now, the actor has revealed that those complicated feelings weren’t exactly resolved while making the new DC film. In a new interview with Collider, Shannon got honest about the multiverse-traversing premise of “The Flash” and his own dissatisfaction with Zod’s arc in the film. “I’m not going to lie — it wasn’t quite satisfying for me, as an actor. These multiverse movies are like somebody playing with action figures,” Shannon said. “It’s like, ‘Here’s this person. Here’s that person. And they’re fighting!’ It’s not quite the in-depth character study situation that I honestly felt ‘Man of Steel’ was.”

Country singer Dierks Bentley may be ready for his Hollywood debut.  Although he previously turned down an acting gig with Larry David, Bentley said if "Yellowstone" needed a new cowboy, he’d be there in a heartbeat.  "I love ‘Yellowstone,’" Bentley, 47, admitted during an interview at Country Music Association (CMA) Fest. "If Lainey Wilson wanted to drag me along to the next ‘Yellowstone’ shoot, let's go. I'm ready." The "Gold" singer made these comments during a press event at CMA Fest.

2023 BET Awards are ready to celebrate Black excellence across music, television, film and sports, and the nominations are stacked.This year's list of nominees — announced by the network on Thursday — is led by Drake, who scored the prize of most nominated with seven nods, including Best Male Hip Hop Artist, Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, Best Group with 21 Savage and Best Collaboration with Future and Tems. GloRilla reigns as the most nominated woman of the night with six nominations, including Best Female Hip Hop Artist, Best New Artist, Album of the Year for  and Video of the Year for «Tomorrow 2» with Cardi B.21 Savage and Lizzo earned the third-highest number of nods, with five nominations each, followed by Beyoncé, Burna Boy, Chris Brown, Ice Spice and SZA with four nominations each. Memphis rapper Glorilla nearly meets him at a tie, clocking in with six recognitions as the 2022 winner of BET’s breakthrough hip-hop artist of the year. Among his nominations, Drake is up for best group alongside 21 Savage, best collaboration with Future and Tems for their radio favorite “Wait for U,” and album of the year for “Her Loss.” Glorilla competes with Drake in the best collaboration category twice — once for her feature with HItkidd (“F.N.F. Let’s Go”) and Cardi B (“Tomorrow 2”). The Memphis rapper is also up for album of the year for “Anyways, Life’s Great.”
