Joe Otterson TV Reporter “The Peripheral” has been canceled at Amazon’s Prime Video, Variety has learned. The news comes despite the fact that Amazon renewed the show for a second season back in February. The series, based on the William Gibson novel of the same name, debuted on Amazon on Oct.

The haunting flick stars Adrien Brody and Sarah Polley as two genetic engineers hoping to achieve fame by successfully splicing together the DNA of different animals to create new hybrid animals for medical use.

It’s been too long since a show like “Masters of Horror” allowed twisted auteurs a platform to explore the themes and images that haunt them. Enter Guillermo del Toro, the Oscar-winning director who has gifted his fans with Netflix’s “Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities,” even writing two episodes and introducing each of them like a modern Rod Serling.

Prime Video dropped the latest trailer for The Peripheral, the long-gestating sci-fi drama from Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan’s Kilter Films that’s based on the bestselling novel by William Gibson. The cast and producers made an appearance at New York Comic-Con today to hype the series that premieres Oct. 21.

That episode is written by Mika Watkins, based on a short story by H.P. Lovecraft and directed by “Twilight’s” Catherine Hardwicke.“Pickman’s Model” stars Ben Barnes, Crispin Glover and Oriana Leman in an episode based on another short story from Lovecraft, written this time by Lee Patterson.
