Lionel Richie is looking forward to performing at the coronation concert for King Charles III, calling it an "honor." Richie shared his excitement during an interview with People at the Breakthrough Awards at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. "I mean, you don't get in the business and say, 'You know what? I'll be at the king's coronation.' You know, that just never comes up," Richie said. "[It's] A, a surprise.

Alongside the King and Queen Consort, 20,000 members of the public and invited guests will be in attendance, and the concert will also be broadcast on BBC One, BBC iPlayer, Radio 2 and BBC Sounds.Andrea Bocelli, Freya Ridings, Welsh bass-baritone Sir Bryn Terfel and classical-soul composer and producer Alexis Ffrench have also been confirmed for the concert, with more names due to be announced soon.“This will be our first live show since the Odyssey Tour, four years ago in 2019, and what a stage to come back on!” said Take That in a BBC press release.

With just two months to go until King Charles in formally crowned, plans for the Coronation already appear to have hit a snag as several musical celebrities invited to perform at the high profile ceremony have already turned down their invitations. A host of musical heavyweights including Elton John, Harry Styles and The Spice Girls have already reportedly turned down the change to perform at His Majesty’s big Windsor Castle concert on May 6, just hours after the official ceremony will take place at Westminster Abbey.
