Belle & Sebastian have shared their latest single, ‘What Happened To You, Son?’ ahead of their North American tour.The jangle-pop track features a retro-sounding guitar riff, a thumping bass line and crisp keys. “Son, you’re a mystery / all your precious words don’t mean so much to me” sings frontman Stuart Murdoch during the opening of the song. The track was originally meant to be on the band’s 2023 LP ‘Late Developers’ but was pulled last minute.Speaking of the track in a press release, Murdoch shared: “‘What Happened to You, Son?’ got pulled rather randomly from the last LP because the LP felt one track too long.

Belle & Sebastian were spotted in last night’s episode of The Simpsons.The iconic animated series, which has been running since December 1989, premiered its latest and 35th season on October 1, 2023.In the most recent episode, Groundskeeper Willie is shown falling in love and getting married to a character named Maisie, voiced by Marvel’s Karen Gillan.Another Doctor Who star is credited in this episode, with actor David Tennant providing the voice of Pa MacWeldon, the patriarch of the bride’s family.Alongside these famous voices was Scottish band Belle & Sebastian providing the music at the rehearsal dinner. Featuring a brand new original song by the indie pop band formed in Glasgow in 1996, ‘Willie And The Dream Of Peat Bogs’, the episode was followed by a music video for the track.The band’s lead singer, Stuart Murdoch, posted on X/Twitter a snap of the animated group, in front of a drum set saying, ‘The Belle And Sebastian Experience’ with the caption: “I think they did us pretty well, what do you think? Belle & Sebastian has shared his thoughts on the Conservative Party  during a recent appearance as a panellist on BBC’s Question Time.The Scottish musician was joined on the panel by a range of politicians from his home country, including Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar, Deputy First Minister John Swinney and Scottish Conservatives leader Douglas Ross.During the show – which was filmed in Musselburgh and aired yesterday (October 13) in the UK – the panel discussed a range of topics, from Scottish Independence to the country’s view on UK Prime Minister Liz Truss. Belle And Sebastian have released new single ‘If They’re Shooting At You’ in support of those affected by the war in Ukraine.The band will donate all income from sales and streams of the song to the Red Cross. Belle And Sebastian have shared a new single called ‘If They’re Shooting At You’ alongside an accompanying video in support of those affected by the conflict in Ukraine.The Scottish group enlisted various photographers who are on the ground covering the ongoing crisis to create a powerful “visual collage” set to their latest single, which will appear on their 10th album ‘A Bit Of Previous’.As well as offering a message of solidarity and hope, Belle And Sebastian have pledged to donate all artist income from the song – including streaming, digital sales and publishing royalties – to the Red Cross.Additionally, donations made via Bandcamp until next Friday (March 18) will be matched by the UK government as part of a joint appeal with the Disasters Emergency Committee.
