Laywers for "Rust" armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed, in a letter to District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies, have accused Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza of implying that Gutierrez Reed brought or fired live ammo on a previous movie set. The letter, obtained by Fox News Digital, requested that Carmack-Altwies speak with Mendoza about correcting his statements.

The Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office is attempting to be "transparent" when it comes to the investigation into the fatal "Rust" set shooting that occurred on Oct. 21.

Alec Baldwin has insisted he is not "culpable" for Halyna Hutchins' death. The 63-year-old actor has filed an arbitration demand claiming his contract protects him from financial responsibility in the death of cinematographer, who was killed when a gun went off on the set of 'Rust' last October, and in the paperwork he has stressed that the events leading up to the tragedy had nothing to do with him. Court documents obtained by 'Entertainment Tonight' state "this is a rare instance when the system broke down, and someone should be held legally culpable for the tragic consequences.

“What you have is a certain group of people, litigants and whatever, on whatever side, who their attitude is, ‘well the people who likely seem negligent have no money and the people who have money are not negligent,'” said Baldwin, as reported by CNN.Baldwin did not specify which of the lawsuits related to Hutchins’ death he was referring to in his statement. On February 15, Hutchins’ family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Baldwin and multiple other defendants, including the producers and production companies of “Rust”; assistant director Dave Halls, who handed Baldwin the firearm that shot Hutchins; firearm supplier Seth Kenney and the production’s armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed and prop master Sarah Zachry. Other “Rust” lawsuits filed include one by the production’s main medic Cheryln Schaefer filed suit last month against the film’s producers as well as Halls, Zachry, Gutierrez-Reed and Kenney claiming lost wages and emotional trauma.

Armourers Hannah Gutierrez Reed and Seth Kenney are also named, alongside crew members Sarah Zachry, Dave Halls, Gabrielle Pickle and others.The lawsuit claims the Rust production team “disregarded at least 15 Industry Standards” of on-set safety.

The family of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins has finally taken legal action against the Rust producers, including Alec Baldwin, nearly 4 months after her tragic on-set death. Lawyer Brian Panish filed a wrongful death lawsuit Tuesday (Feb. 15) in New Mexico on behalf of Halyna’s husband Matthew and their 9-year-old son Angelo, according to multiple reports. The lawsuit specifically called out Alec, 63, and the film’s producers for their “reckless behavior” on the film’s set the day Halyna died (Oct. 21). For those that forget, Alec accidentally discharged a prop gun that killed Halyna and injured director Joel Souza during filming.
